At 13, Penn got his G.E.D., and he and his mom moved to L.A. so he could start auditioning. Withing a few months, he had a walk-on part on Will & Grace. “I only had five lines, but I had so much fun,” he says. Then he auditioned for the role of Joel on Do Over on a Friday and by the following Monday the job was his. That’s practically unheared of in the industry, but this Seattle native’s used to getting what he wants. “I’m a pretty determined guy,” he says. “Once I set my mind on something, I make it happen.” Now, when he’s not filming Do Over, Penn’s taking classes at Santa Monica College and playing guitar. If he could switch places with anyone, he’d be Brandon Boyd from Incubus. “He’s a great singer and I’ve liked the band since I first heard them almost four years ago. Plus, it would be cool to perform for all those screaming girls.” |
