When Smuggler Films announced that Penn Badgley was set to star as the late, great singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley, fans were surprised. Maybe BULLETT should expand into the business of fortune-telling: Our shoot with photographer Kurt Iswarienko captured Badgley decked out in Dior Homme, and playing around with a roomful of instruments (including an adorable Hamilton piano) in our premier issue back in fall 2010. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate our one-year anniversary than to look back on that vintage-inspired shoot starring the Talented Mr. Badgley. He also obliged us by filling out a questionnaire that not only includes his take on life’s giant conundrums (between boxers and briefs, he chose the former—swoon), but also his thoughts on the great Edward vs. Jacob debate. (Spoiler alert: He’s Team Bella.) See Penn’s circled answers here. |

While some Robert Pattinson fans might be bummed he won’t be playing iconic musician Jeff Buckley in an upcoming biopic, we know someone who is over-the-moon about the casting — the guy who got the role, Penn Badgley! He told reporters at last night’s HTC Serves Up NYC event at Highland Stages in NYC, that considering the fact that lots of other stars tried out, he was thrilled to land the role. “I was absolutely devastatingly awestruck and ecstatic. It was amazing,” he said. As for whether he wants to pursue music, that is still up in the air. “I may, I want to. I may or may not actually, just simply it might complicate the whole thing — the movie is a separate thing [from doing music]. If and when I do ever do that, I don’t want it simply to be that I’m playing Jeff right now. “It’s a separate thing, acting and music,” he continued. “And in this one project it’s connected, but they are two separate things to me, and they’ve always been separate things. And I’ve always wanted things I’ve wanted to pursue. But I will have to be delicate about it.” Well, Penn seems like he’s already well on his way to looking like the celebrated musican, who died tragically in an accidental drowning at age 30 — check out those floppy locks!
